At the end of the clip, notice how the water washes under the wooden decking…

A message from our Commodore:

If you haven’t been to the club recently, we encourage everyone to stop by and take a look. We continue to gather information for possible ideas to repair, replace and protect our cherished waterfront. Below are the areas we have talked about and the reasons why we should discuss them. Please share any of your thoughts, ideas or concerns.

Repairing the dock and seawall by the boat launch

  • The dock, crib and concrete seawall have been damaged from high water, age and strong storms.

  • To repair, replace and protect these areas an engineering firm was hired because we need permits to complete any work we will do.

  • The engineering phase has begun. Machin Engineering was hired and has started their discovery.

  • Once the firm has completed discovery, they will design and permit the project.

  • With the design & permits in hand, we will take it to bid for construction.

  • The good news is that permits are good for 5 years and once we get the plans, membership can decide how to proceed.

  • We will keep you updated as plans are formed.

Adding boulders to protect the waterfront

  • With a county permit, we can add boulders along the jetty and along the south beach/boat ramp as long as they are above the high water mark and are on dry land.

  • By adding boulders to these areas, we will better protect the waterfront from high water. The pictures clearly show the damage our shoreline has taken over the past few years. The plan would be to add additional boulders as the water line drops over time.

  • We can protect the south beach while still allowing easy access to the water.

  • This is a project we might be able to do ourselves.

  • Costs varies depending on what type of boulder we use and what areas we reinforce.

Reinforcing the Dock

  • We are exploring reinforcing the dock, which is a short-term bandage, with Machin engineering

  • Although the crib is compromised which allows the sand to fill the boat slips, there might be an option to safely allow us to use the dock this summer.

  • We will have more details once Machin has been able to evaluate it more closely.

  • It’s not clear if we can do some of the work or if we will hire out.
